PokerStars Announces First APPT Cambodia Poker Tournament

Leading online poker operator PokerStars has added Cambodia to its schedule of stops for the 2022 Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT).

Expanding APPT Borders

The first APPT Cambodia live poker festival is slated to take place in the Grand Ballroom of the award-winning NagaWorld resort in the Mekong area from November 3-13, 2022, and is anticipated to draw poker professionals and recreational players.

Head of Global Live Tournament Operations at PokerStars, Cedric Billot, commented on the announcement by highlighting the credentials of the NagaWorld resort, stating that PokerStars is “happy to extend APPT boundaries” by hosting an APPT event in Cambodia in 2022.

Billot said, “Nagaworld is a beautiful facility where we hope players will have fun both on and off the tables.”

The poker festival will include a $400,000 GTD $1,500 Buy-In Main Event, in addition to a $5,000 High Roller and a $10,000 Super High Roller.

PokerStars has announced that it will host online satellites to the APPT Cambodia event, with three distinct packages up for grabs: Package, which includes $1,500 Main Event Buy-In, $490 in hotel fees, and $200 in general expenditures; Seat & Expenses, which includes the $1,500 Main Event Buy-In and $300 in general expenses; and Seat Only, which only includes the $1,500 Main Event Buy-In.

Fun and Entertainment

The APPT Cambodia Players Party will be held on November 12 at the integrated resort’s Arena Sports Bar, according to the poker festival’s organizers.

NagaWorld, which is spread across two large properties, offers 5-star accommodations as well as a variety of dining options, including Southeast Asian cuisine that is typical for the area as well as Chinese, Japanese, French, and Italian cuisine. Nightclubs and karaoke bars are also available for the enjoyment of resort guests.

All guests must wear face masks upon admission and while on the NagaWorld premises, including the poker area, in accordance with the current operating regulations. Masks are supplied at the gates and upon request. Only the specified smoking places in the ballroom entrance will allow smoking.

APPT Open Manila, held from May 30 to June 5, and APPT Manila, held from July 29 to August 7, were both part of the 2022 APPT PokerStars LIVE series. Both festivals were held in Manila at the Okada Manila casino resort, which was recently the subject of a corporate dispute that compelled its operator to delay the completion of its merger and Nasdaq listing.
